Serengeti Explorer Camp to reopen in June 2016 in time for the herds reaching Western and Northern Serengeti

Serengeti-01Explorer Camp features 8 deluxe tents and 2 family tents, all en suite. Solar panels power 24 hour electricity and all new lounge and dining tents, combined with an already high standard of service provide an exceptional experience for our guests. The camp also features dedicated, open side vehicles based at the camp to allow for fly-in travellers.

Serengeti Explorer Camp uses three different exclusive campsites during the year, ensuring it is always in the best location for the best game viewing. Guests can connect with the camp before, during and after travels via the facebook page and even tweet photos to the camp’s Twitter account @RafikiExplorer.

Serengeti-02Dining is always special at Serengeti Explorer Camp. Be it a bush lunch, elegant picnic basket for extended game viewing, breakfast served on your verandah or a surprise sundowner, our guests are always amazed at the quality of food cooked in the middle of the bush. The all new lounge tent provides the perfect place to relax after a day of game viewing and swap stories with fellow travellers.

In January 2016, the camp introduced the Rafiki Explorer Club designed to provide a special experience to children aged 6 to 15 with different levels of activities and added values suitable for each age group. Activities available for children will be guided bush walks, archery, star gazing and many more.

The camp will launch again on 01 June in West Central Serengeti allowing our guests to game viewing in Grumeti, Seronera and Tagora Plains. The camp will then move towards Lobo from 01 August to 31 October 2016 to track the herds as they venture towards Kogatende and into the Masai Mara.

The camp now has two game viewing vehicles so welcomes guests flying in and out of the Serengeti. The custom designed 4×4 land-cruisers offer great comfort with open sides and drivers who know the Serengeti intimately.
